Home Monitoring Systems: Making home a safer place
Smart safety measures for seniors and loved ones
If you have an aging family member who is living alone, you probably have worries about their safety. At Comfort Keepers, we know that our clients value their independence and being able to maintain their own lifestyle, and that’s why they’ve chosen home care over some other kind of care. We balance this with the need to ensure safety, security, and health for all of our clients. Luckily, there are many tools that will make the home safer for all of us.
Our selection of home monitoring systems is an excellent way to ensure the safety of your aging loved one and their home, no matter how far away you are. These systems were selected to be able to work in tandem with our Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS), which are recommended for all seniors and all those receiving home care. A PERS is an important part of helping a senior stay independent, active, and safe, and it gives our clients peace of mind knowing that help is never more than one phone call away.
Using a home monitoring system alongside a PERS provides safety for your loved one and their home. Our clients and their family members find comfort in-home monitoring systems, as they add security and mean that a senior is never alone or without assistance.
Home monitoring systems recommended by Comfort Keepers include:
- Window and door alarms. These alarms are sensors that work with phone lines that are already in the home. If the alarm is sounded, the SafetyChoice Centralized Monitoring Station will alert responders.
- Bedside pressure detector mats and motion detectors. These in-home sensors can alert responders to movement inside the home.
- Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. These alarms dispatch the local fire department when they detect smoke or carbon monoxide.
Ultimately, each of these tools makes home a safer place for anyone receiving home care. It also provides you and your family with peace of mind, knowing that safety assistance or emergency assistance is only a call away, should your aging loved one need it.
